Safe, reliable, and stress-free transport for your pet between cities in Peru
How domestic pet shipping works in Peru
Domestic pet shipping in Peru can be challenging due to long distances, limited transport options, and the country’s diverse geography. Not all airlines or bus companies accept pets, and some destinations can only be reached by air. We make the process simple by coordinating every step for you — from route planning and vet requirements to ground transport and airport handling. Our goal is to ensure that your pet travels safely, comfortably, and without stress.

Health Certificate for Domestic Flights
There is no national requirement for a health certificate when traveling with a pet inside Peru. You don’t need any official documents for ground transport or for moving a pet between cities by car.
However, domestic flights are different.
Some airlines may ask for a simple “Certificado de Salud” issued by a vet within the last 3–5 days. This short document confirms that your pet is healthy and fit to fly. It is not a legal requirement, but an airline-based requirement, and it can vary by route and staff member.
A domestic health certificate is recommended or sometimes required when:
your pet flies in cargo on any domestic route
you fly from Lima to Cusco (large altitude change)
you fly to jungle destinations like Tarapoto or Iquitos
the airline staff wants confirmation that your pet is fit to travel
your pet is senior, very young, or has a medical condition
You do not need this certificate for:
ground transport within Lima
ground transport in other regions
short transfers to vets, groomers or temporary boarding
Airlines in Peru sometimes request the certificate and sometimes don’t. To avoid last-minute problems at check-in, we check the airline’s current policies for your route and help you get the correct document quickly.
What to Know for Sensitive Breeds and Routes
Brachycephalic breeds
Flat-faced breeds such as French Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers and Persian cats are more sensitive to heat, stress and changes in air pressure. Some airlines in Peru restrict these breeds on certain routes or during warmer hours of the day. We carefully check airline rules, choose suitable flight times and ensure the crate has proper ventilation to keep your pet safe.
Cats
Cats are often more sensitive to noise, heat and handling during airport procedures. Airlines apply strict rules for cabin carriers, weight limits and check-in requirements, which can make some routes more challenging. We prepare the right carrier, plan calm handling steps and reduce unnecessary stress during airport movements. This ensures your cat travels safely, calmly and as comfortably as possible.
Jungle Destinations
Travel to Peru’s jungle regions requires special planning. These destinations experience very high temperatures and humidity, and pets can only travel by air (Iquitos). Airlines may limit or delay pet transport during the hottest hours of the day for safety reasons, especially for cargo shipments. We check conditions, airline rules and timing to ensure your pet travels safely in tropical climates.
